Note from the Men's Handicap Secretary

While I have been working on the club acquisition Jamie Wilton and Mike Toft volunteered to process all the competition cards. Thank you both for your assistance; you have been a great help during this particularly busy time. I’m sure members didn’t notice the difference.

I think Jamie and Mike would admit they have learned a lot. One of the things they have learned is the variable standard of scorecard completion, which is time consuming and often delays the results.

As we enter our busy Spring and Summer competition period please remember the following to help you and us:

Use a pencil or pen that makes a clear impression. Some cards are so feint that come the summer sunshine we may lose the scores altogether!
Record your name, handicap and gross scores clearly on the scorecard (failure = disqualification)
Whilst not mandatory it does assist if you record who marked the scorecard
Upon completion of the round check the scorecard is correctly and clearly completed. Both marker and player must sign (failure = disqualification)
Return completed scorecard promptly as instructed by the pro shop and/or related notices. Remember should the changing rooms be locked and you cannot access the white competitions box in the men’s changing room you can post your scorecard in the ‘alternative’ black competions box on the wall outside the pro shop.
All competition cards must be returned (failure = fine of another entry fee)

We may sometimes ask you to enter your own scores on the computer in the spike bar at the end of your round, as we did last year. If you need reading glasses bring them just in case. Our revised competition/ handicap system is even easier to use than the one you mastered last year, so no excuses accepted. Single event competitions lend themselves to this treatment as it enables the results to be produced within 10/15 minutes maximum of the last group coming in.
