Note from the Handicap Secretaries

The following note applies to all members of the golf club whose handicaps are governed by CONGU (men 28 and under, ladies 36 and under) and requires you all to pay particular attention to competition results that will also record handicap movements.

As part of the introduction of the Unified Handicapping System (w.e.f. 1st February 2004) our golf unions have issued the following amongst their latest directions and decisions:

‘16.10(a) The EGU/ELGA directs that increases in Playing Handicaps shall be made as soon as practicable after the score becomes known to the Home Club and displayed immediately in a prominent position at the club – see 9.3(c).’

The effect is your handicap can now either increase or decrease immediately after each qualifying competition dependent on your performance in relation to Competition Standard Scratch. The following shaded example illustrates where you will see increases shown within our competition results. These increases are only effective once the results are posted on the changing rooms’ notice board.
